Douro Valley is hardly a bad scenario for a wedding, but Maria and Carlos, a young and stylish Brazilian couple, exceed all expectations. This was a Destination Wedding with 270 guests that travelled all the way from Brazil, and even Japan, to celebrate love with our couple.
The venue couldn’t be better, Six Sense Douro Valley is definitely a special place that set the tone for the entire wedding: modern, stylish combined with tradition.
Surrounded by Douro’s green fields, touches of blue hydrangeas and bright pink flowers were selected for the outside ceremony that was held under the Portuguese summer sun. The table centerpieces were inspired by white and blue tiles to match the wedding stationery, designed carefully by the mother of the bride. Fantastic ceramic vases along with metallic glass and candles created an elegant yet simple decor for the tables.
Lighting was a big important factor when planning this big and luxurious wedding, using the modern architecture characteristics of the venue and enhance them with lighting, created an intimate fun and ready to party mood for the reception.
The choice was very successful to set the right mood as the party went by all night long until the sun was rising above the wonderful Douro as if the river itself was celebrating love along with Maria and Carlos.
Susana and Nuno are a genuine Portuguese couple, in love with Lisbon and its palaces and nooks and, of course, with each other. It only made sense for them to celebrate their union in this city that saw them grow and where are all those dear to them. The choice of location could not have been other and, after seeing the pictures of this wedding, you will surely agree.
Throughout the planning process we were a true team, in constant dialogue and sharing. That’s why all the elements created for this wedding made a harmonious bond between the couple and this charming place. Both the graphic pieces and the decoration followed a romantic and light line, with floral and minimalist inspiration. Peonies, roses, white and blush sprinkled invitations, missals, tables and floral centerpieces. And because the Portuguese also like national products, the favours were hand painted tile coasters.
A marriage of charm and class, worthy of a fairy tale.
Having being in Lisbon for many time before, Courtney and Jeff decided to get married in our beautiful capital city. They are an American couple obsessed with Lisbon and Portugal and trusted us for making they dream wedding dreamy. And indeed it was, at Palácio Marqueses da Fronteira, where the “azulejos” are the true stars and the brightest royal blue the sky.
So all things Portugal were put together in a modern and elegant way for this wedding. A sardine, a typical codfish recipe, “azulejos” and “Ginginha” for favours, were just a few elements that made part of this wedding truly amazing.
A Destination Wedding can be a truly amazing experience, and Courtney and Jeff’s was just that, they offer the absolutely best for their friends and family, we just help them make it happen. It all started with a trip to romantic Sintra followed by a big family style dinner in a very typical “petiscos” restaurante in center Lisbon the day before the wedding, a relaxed welcome dinner that was truly a success.
The big day was decorated in the most stunning scenario whit white anemones, candles and touches of gold calligraphy and cutlery that gave incredible elegance to the wedding. Not even the rain stopped this amazing couple for having the times of their lives, Courtney and Jeff took the most out of it by danced epically in the rain in the end.
